Exclusively for Founder’s Award 2017, honoree James McBride and the Good Lord Bird Band will perform a mix of spirituals and jazz renditions of classic gospel songs inspired by abolitionist John Brown, a key figure in McBride’s most recent novel, The Good Lord Bird (2013).
Please arrive promptly at 8:30 PM for wine and dessert, followed by the seated musical performance at 9:00 PM.

• Gift Bag including signed copy of The Good Lord Bird, and general admission tickets to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and the National Constitution Center

Individual tickets to the Founder's Award are $300 per person and include the cocktail hour from 6-7:00 p.m. with an unveiling of the HSP and NCC collaborative "American Treasures: Documenting the Nation’s Founding", an exhibit illuminating the founding era through priceless drafts of the U.S. Constitution, including Pennsylvania delegate James Wilson’s own handwritten drafts. Founder's Award attendees will have the opportunity to tour the new exhibit during the evening's celebrations. The exhibit will not be open to the public until May 4. Individual tickets also include a seated dinner, live and appeal auctions by George McNeely, musical performance by Founder's Award honoree James McBride and the Good Lord Bird Band, and a complimentary giftbag.
